Firefighters and police from multiple departments responded to the fire that originated in the third floor of an Ocean Grove residence about 2 a.m. Thursday.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that one resident was killed by the three-alarm fire on Broadway.
One other resident was hurt and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities did not identify the victim.
Two emergency responders were treated and released for minor injuries, authorities said.
The fire was not labeled suspicious but an investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
